I’m delighted to report that all seven seasons of the fantastic British sitcom “Peep Show” are available to watch on Netflix streaming. If you enjoy
Curb Your Enthusiasm but are ready for humor that goes even further into matters crass and uncomfortable, prepare yourself for the travails of flatmates Mark and Jeremy. A groundbreaking and aptly-titled show, in which every shot is what’s known as a
P.O.V. The first episode I came across was series 5 episode 2, entitled
Spin War –it may act as a bit of a spoiler to skip ahead, but that episode is a great place to start. You can always go back to the first series, secure in the knowledge that the show just gets better in successive seasons. Shows are under a half-hour in duration, so it’s easy to fit them in.
Another British series worth a look is the BBC’s latest adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. Besides giving in to some low-rent flashiness, this show’s a lot of fun and is very well done. The leads are perfectly cast, with an excitable and eccentric Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role. For some reason he (as Holmes) keeps reminding me of Zachary Quinto, so it’ll be fun (or confusing) to watch those two interact in the next Star Trek film (they fight in this “leaked” set video).
