Gmail Goggles is for real
I read about Gmail’s new feature “Mail Goggles” in the official Gmail blog, and I figured it had to be a joke. But today is not April 1, and I checked the settings for my Gmail account and the setting is really there waiting for me to enable it.
So it appears there really is now a feature in Gmail that can be set to ask you whether you really want to send that email you compose at 3am Saturday night, and will verify your sound-mindedness by asking you a series of math questions.
There are some other interesting new features hidden away in the “Labs” tab of the Gmail settings. Some, like the “Forgotten Attachment Detector”, actually sound pretty useful. That one will remind you to attach a file if you’ve written a message that talks of an included attachment but forgot about the payload.
