Sacha Baron Cohen is brilliant
Friday, November 23rd, 2007I remember first watching him on the Channel 4 (British) series Da Ali G Show. I was so impressed by his depth of character and commitment to the performance that I instantly thought I was watching a young Peter Sellers2. When I first heard that the film, The Pink Panther, was to be remade, Sacha was the only person I could imagine possibly doing the role of Inspector Clouseau justice. Of course, the role went to some other guy3.
I’m looking forward to watching his next project.

- I can’t say the film doesn’t have problems, especially when it starts to take the racing action seriously or does fancy and irrelevant CG camera moves through the racecars, but Sacha’s great [↩]
- It was a nice surprise to read the page of Sacha Baron Cohen related trivia on the imdb and find that “He considers Peter Sellers to be his greatest influence”. I swear I hadn’t known that when I had the instant thought I just described. Really. [↩]
- No slouch himself, if all you know of Steve Martin is Pink Panther or Cheaper By the Dozen, you owe yourself a trip to the video store to rent a copy of The Jerk [↩]
