mean-spirited LOLcats variation

Friday, October 5th, 2007
You may have seen the Lolcats, those candid photos of cats combined with funny pidgin English captions (supposed to be the cat talking). Skippy and Stella Kevlar have whipped a very twisted version of Lolcats called ‘Lolsecretz‘. You’ll never again want to know what your pet is thinking.

Seagate Freeagent Pro external SATA connector is bad

Friday, October 5th, 2007
I’ve finally got my 750Gb Seagate FreeAgent Pro external drive to connect to my MacBook Pro using an eSata cable. As others have found, the eSata outlet on the drive enclosure is badly designed and does not allow the eSata connector to completely fit inside. I had to whittle away the flange of the connector on one of my eSata cables so that it would fit far enough into the outlet. Now my drive is finally accessible from my computer at eSata speeds.

Consumers shouldn’t have to adapt their own cables in this way. Seagate should either supply a cable that works with their drive, or they should replace all drives with such faulty eSata outlets and stop selling drives with unusable eSata connectors.
